Summary

Obour, born Bice Osei Kuffour, is a Ghanaian hiplife musician whose work draws on Asante performance resources and socially directed song. The stage name means 'stone'.[1]

Life and career

He entered recording through Soul Records after secondary school. His early successes included Atentenben and Dondo, followed by a wider public role in music organization and advocacy. His history includes a period leading the Musicians Union of Ghana, a role recorded in the dated 2015 profile.[1][2]

Music and style

A traditional Asante rhythmic emphasis and warrior-like stage persona distinguished his contribution to the developing hiplife scene. That approach made local performance knowledge a visible part of rap's Ghanaian transformation.[3]

Works and performances

The 2004 album Atumpan and the associated tour joined new music to a road-safety project. 'Konkontibaa' featured Batman, while 'Shyne ur eye' included Tic Tac and Baba Shanty. These collaborations show his place in an interconnected recording scene. The contemporary launch report also documents coordinated radio presentation and the planned national tour.[4]
