Music of Eastern Paraguayan musical networks
Summary
Eastern Paraguay’s rural and urban musical networks connect song, harp and guitar traditions with wider popular listening. This regional view complements the national selection.
Contemporary and trending
Encarnación’s announced 2025 Guarania festival included national and Itapúa artists. The 2026 Yambay homage connects remembered repertoire with a later generation’s performance. [1] [2]
History
Los Alfonsinos’ rural and town circuits and guarania’s authored history offer different accounts of musical travel. Neither represents the full diversity of Paraguay’s Indigenous communities. [3]
Genres
Polca paraguaya, Guarania, Purahéi jahe’o, Chamamé and Cumbia provide distinct popular routes. Community-specific Guaraní and Chaco musical traditions require their own accounts.
Artists
Quemil Yambay, Arami Yambay, Ricardo Flecha and the local Itapúa programme connect different generations and roles.
Boundary definition and research
The outline connects eastern towns and countryside and takes priority over the broad country selector. It is not a language or ethnic boundary and does not redefine the Chaco as one musical culture.
