Xand Avião
Summary
Xand Avião is a Brazilian singer associated with electronic and band forró, first nationally prominent as a vocalist of Aviões do Forró alongside Solange Almeida. His solo work and collaborations connect that band tradition with the younger Contemporary Forró and piseiro scene.[1]
Life and career
Aviões do Forró formed in Fortaleza in 2002. Its combination of contrasting lead voices, dance arrangements and extensive live circulation made it an important part of the following decade's forró landscape. The band's history includes television exposure, touring outside the Northeast and appearances in events also associated with sertanejo.[2]
Xand's later career includes large collaborative events. In a 2023 interview about Viiixe, he discussed the shared festival world of established forró singers and younger performers, including João Gomes, Nattan and Tarcísio do Acordeon.[1]
Music and style
Romantic songs, dance-floor momentum and an identifiable vocal delivery link his band and solo periods. The terms forró, electronic forró and piseiro illuminate different parts of that history. His own discussion treats the newer current as part of an evolving forró world, rather than as a population of artists entirely separate from it.[1]
Works and performances
The Aviões recordings 'Pode Chorar' and 'Chupa que é de Uva' document the earlier band setting. Xand's appearance on Os Barões da Pisadinha's 'Basta Você Me Ligar' offers a concrete link to the keyboard-led wave. Compare the arrangement and ensemble in each version; a retrospective concert of older electronic hits is not automatically pé-de-serra.[2][3]
