Contemporary and trending
Dawit Getachew and Meskerem Getu provide Amharic-language contemporary Christian examples, while Yemane Habte supplies a Tigrinya-language repertoire. The selected videos make the distinction between these local contexts explicit. Mezmur is a broad term for religious song, so identifying an example as Protestant or contemporary Christian matters.
History
Ethiopia and Eritrea have long-established Orthodox sacred traditions, but those traditions should not be collapsed into modern gospel. Ethiopian Protestant Christian song developed its own singers, choirs and recording histories, including the Mulu Wongel and other church networks. Local Christian music has drawn on inherited melodic resources and contemporary instruments in different ways. [1]
Musical characteristics
Amharic and Tigrinya repertoires, distinctive melodic phrasing and local-language worship with contemporary instruments and ensembles. Compare the lead voice with the ensemble response, the rhythmic backing with the phrasing of the text, and the difference between a communal refrain and an individually directed performance. The recordings below are particular examples, not a complete inventory of the category.
Geography and communities
An Ethiopian highland field and a separate northern/Eritrean field provide a broad overview without assuming that Amharic, Oromo and Tigrinya repertoires can substitute for one another. The initial recordings cover specific Amharic and Tigrinya contexts; other language communities require their own supported additions.
Artists
Dawit Getachew, Meskerem Getu, Yemane Habte. The selections below identify specific works and versions rather than assigning the entire output of an artist to this category. Uploader credits are explicitly labelled when the source does not securely identify every performer. A concert, choir video and studio release may represent different parts of the same scene.
Representative performances
Original repertoire dates, recording dates and video-publication dates describe different events. Unknown dates remain unknown. Historical examples are retained for reference and excluded from geographic autoplay.

Related genres
Gospel is the parent overview and links to the other regional/style categories. Gospel provides the umbrella relationship. Orthodox liturgical chant is a related sacred practice with a separate identity, while Islamic manzuma is a different religious musical world. Shared location or the general word religious does not justify merging them.
