Summary

Vispop is a contemporary Visayan popular-song route, particularly Cebuano-language songwriting and related band and melodic-rap crossings. The term also names ArtistKo’s specific songwriting campaign; the broader listening view is not limited to competition entries.

Contemporary and trending

The current listening route brings identified local releases and performances into the station alongside continuing familiar repertoire. Oh! Caraga, Missing Filemon, Kurt Fick, Jacky Chang, Jerika Teodorico, Von Saw and selected FELIP works provide different entrances. Newer discovery is a priority, while worthwhile older recordings remain playable. A streaming or festival appearance demonstrates circulation in that setting; it is not converted into a measured national audience share.[1]

History

Cebu’s artist and songwriting networks have worked to expand space for new regional-language songs. This development connects with older Visayan popular practices and contemporary Bisrock rather than replacing them. Language can shape a musical public without dictating a single sound.[2]

Musical characteristics

Melodic vocal writing, acoustic or amplified bands, electronic rhythm and different degrees of rap or R&B influence appear in the route. Kurt Fick’s intimate songs, Missing Filemon’s band delivery and Oh! Caraga’s melodic writing offer contrasting entrances.

Geography and communities

Cebu and connected Visayan and Mindanao communities form a regional circulation network, extended by migration and online listening. The programme does not assume that every island in the Visayas uses Cebuano, or that all Philippine popular song should be routed through Manila.

Artists

Oh! Caraga, Missing Filemon, Kurt Fick, Jacky Chang, Jerika Teodorico, Von Saw and selected FELIP works provide different entrances. Jewel Villaflores and the Vispop campaign offer further songwriting context. Actual song language and version matter more than birthplace alone.

Recording entrances

Oh! Caraga — Oh! Caraga - Ipanumpa Ko (official lyric video)[3]; Missing Filemon — Missing Filemon - Suroy2x (In The Studio Live)[4]. These are particular versions, not a claim that every work by the same performer belongs here.
