Summary

Mvet Oyeng is an Ekang epic performance institution joining sung storytelling, a string instrument, movement and active audience response. The term can refer to the stories, performer and instrument together. Sacred and public forms have different conditions of transmission and presentation. [1] [2]

The 2025 multinational heritage documentation describes ritual learning, public celebrations and modern shows. It recognizes storytellers, sponsors and instrument makers, with women participating as storytellers especially in public forms. History

Mvet has long carried oral literature and differing performance genres across Fang/Ekang communities.
