It is not simply any devotional chorus or a spectacular percussion dance excerpt. Manipuri dance and Ras Lila have close cultural relationships with sankirtana while requiring their own descriptions. Other Hindu kirtan traditions share devotional vocabulary without reproducing the same musical and bodily organization.
