Related genres

Other Maldivian musical and devotional practices have different names, forms and occasions. Sri Lankan baila and other Indian Ocean dance traditions invite specific historical questions, but a shared energetic pulse does not prove one genre or direct origin. Contemporary popular productions can borrow boduberu sound in another song structure.
