Summary
Limão com Mel is a romantic electronic forró band formed in Salgueiro, Pernambuco. Its sustained melodic singing and large-band arrangements are an important part of the modern forró lineage.[1]
History
The group was created in 1993 by Ailton Souza after his earlier Talismã Musical project. That preceding ensemble worked across several popular styles and emphasized romantic song. Limão com Mel emerged as electronic forró was expanding, carrying a strong romantic orientation into the new band format.[1]
Music and repertoire
The music joins a dance foundation to expressive lead singing and arrangements designed to support long melodic lines. Its continued circulation helps explain the term forró das antigas: listeners can revisit a modern band sound from an earlier decade without hearing it as traditional trio forró. The distinction concerns musical lineage, not the age of the recording.
Members and collaborators
Batista Lima is a major voice associated with the band's history. The group and his individual career should have distinct credits. Songs circulating through successive singers and live lineups show why the name of a band is only the beginning of identifying a particular performance.[1]
