You can keep moving to explore, or leave one location selected and listen as you would to a radio station. The selection contains individual recordings, so you can hear a succession of tracks from the area's musical traditions and contemporary scenes.
== Choose a channel ==
The '''station selector''' sits beside the heart button, above the track information. Its label tells you which channel is selected. Click the '''left or right arrow''' to move to the adjacent channel; it is not a drop-down menu. An arrow appears only when there is another available channel in that direction.

Click the '''(i) information button''' attached to the location selector. It shows the musical genres associated with the location and their relative influence in the local mix.

For example, country music has a strong association with Nashville, Tennessee. A location can also draw on several musical traditions at once. The percentages help explain that mixture; they are editorial estimates of musical influence, not survey measurements of how many residents listen to each genre.

Click a genre's name to read its wiki article. The articles explain the music's history, characteristics, artists and cultural connections, including how styles develop over time.
When you are signed out, the selector offers '''mix radio''' and '''Radio MuGlobe''' directly; '''my liked music''' becomes available when you sign in. To return from Radio MuGlobe to exploring places, use the left arrow until '''mix radio''' is selected. Signed-in listeners pass through '''my liked music''' on the way.

== Explore music by location ==
Colored areas on the globe show where different genres have musical influence. Reggaeton, for example, connects places across Latin America and the Caribbean rather than belonging to only one country.
Choose '''mix radio''', then drag the globe. The location selector stays in the center while the world moves beneath it. Use the '''+''' and '''−''' buttons, or your usual zoom gesture, to see a place more closely or take a wider view. Settle on a location over land to hear its local musical mix.

In the location information panel, click a genre's colored square to show or hide its map markers. This lets you focus on the genres that interest you while keeping the list of local genres and their article links available.
Leave a place selected to listen like a radio station, or move elsewhere to discover a different mixture. The mix can include both traditional music and contemporary scenes. Its genre proportions shape how frequently different kinds of music are selected; they do not prescribe a fixed song order.

== Explore musical regions ==
Click the '''location's (i) button''' beside the center selector to open '''Genre influences'''. This panel lists the local genres and their relative influence. The percentages are editorial estimates of musical influence, not measurements of how many residents listen to each genre.
MuGlobe's musical regions describe areas connected by musical and social traditions. They can follow historical trade, migration, language or community relationships, and can overlap rather than fitting neatly inside national borders.

Regions appear as outlines on the globe. Use a region's '''(i) information button''' to open its article and read about the area's music, history and connections to other places.

Create a free account and sign in to save music. Click the '''heart button''' to like a track and its listening location.
In '''Genre influences''', each genre has a colored square, a linked name and a percentage. The colored mushroom areas illustrate where genres have musical influence. A genre can connect many places across national borders.

Use the '''radio station selector''' to choose your liked music. When a saved track plays, the globe moves to the location where you were listening when you liked it. Your saved music becomes a way to revisit discoveries and the places connected with them.

The default '''Mix''' station draws from the genres associated with your selected location, with their relative influence shaping the mix. Use the station selector to switch listening modes, including your liked music when you have saved tracks.

The music plays through YouTube videos. MuGlobe has individually catalogued tens of thousands of recordings by musical genre so they can be connected with appropriate places on the globe. Leave a location selected to keep listening, or move to another place to explore a different musical mixture.
* '''Switch a genre off:''' its mushrooms disappear and Radio Mix stops choosing new recordings from that genre.
* '''Switch it on:''' its mushrooms are shown and its recordings are eligible for Radio Mix again.
* '''A song already playing can finish.''' Switching its genre off does not cut it short. An already-heard song that you paused can still resume. Use '''Next''' if you want to leave the current song now; the next selection uses only enabled genres.
* '''Switch every local genre off:''' there is nothing eligible to play next. Radio Mix waits and asks you to select at least one genre; it does not quietly return to an unfiltered mix. Enable a genre or click '''All genres''' to restore choices. Press '''Play''' if playback is paused.
* '''Your choices follow you:''' closing and reopening the panel or moving to another location keeps your exclusions in the current listening tab or its paired player window. Newly encountered genres start enabled. These are listening-session choices, not saved account preferences.
* '''All genres resets the selection:''' it re-enables every excluded genre in the session, including exclusions made at other locations.

MuGlobe lets you explore the world's music by moving around a globe—or let the music take you around the world. Listen to a local mix, revisit music you have liked, or choose Radio MuGlobe for a curated worldwide selection. The globe and wiki help you discover the places, genres and musical traditions behind what you hear.

Open MuGlobe and start listening. Listening to mix radio and Radio MuGlobe is free and does not require an account. Sign in to save your own liked music.

Choose a channel

The station selector sits beside the heart button, above the track information. Its label tells you which channel is selected. Click the left or right arrow to move to the adjacent channel; it is not a drop-down menu. An arrow appears only when there is another available channel in that direction.

my liked music Your saved recordings. Sign in and like some music to build this personal selection. It takes you back to the listening location saved with each liked track.
Radio MuGlobe A curated selection of recordings from around the world. No account required. It travels to a musical location associated with each playing track's genre.

When you are signed out, the selector offers mix radio and Radio MuGlobe directly; my liked music becomes available when you sign in. To return from Radio MuGlobe to exploring places, use the left arrow until mix radio is selected. Signed-in listeners pass through my liked music on the way.

Explore music by location

Choose mix radio, then drag the globe. The location selector stays in the center while the world moves beneath it. Use the + and − buttons, or your usual zoom gesture, to see a place more closely or take a wider view. Settle on a location over land to hear its local musical mix.

Leave a place selected to listen like a radio station, or move elsewhere to discover a different mixture. The mix can include both traditional music and contemporary scenes. Its genre proportions shape how frequently different kinds of music are selected; they do not prescribe a fixed song order.

Click the location's (i) button beside the center selector to open Genre influences. This panel lists the local genres and their relative influence. The percentages are editorial estimates of musical influence, not measurements of how many residents listen to each genre.

The circular center selector and its nearby location information button on the globe.
The information button beside the center selector opens the local genre list.

Choose genres and show their mushrooms

In Genre influences, each genre has a colored square, a linked name and a percentage. The colored mushroom areas illustrate where genres have musical influence. A genre can connect many places across national borders.

The colored square does two jobs: it shows or hides that genre's mushrooms, and includes or excludes the genre from Radio Mix. Click the square to change the selection. Click the genre name instead to read its wiki article.

Genre influences panel with Folk rock switched off, other colored genre squares enabled, percentages, article links and an All genres button.
An off square excludes that genre from Radio Mix and hides its mushrooms. The genre name remains available as an article link. Scroll the panel when the list is longer than the visible area.
  • Switch a genre off: its mushrooms disappear and Radio Mix stops choosing new recordings from that genre.
  • Switch it on: its mushrooms are shown and its recordings are eligible for Radio Mix again.
  • A song already playing can finish. Switching its genre off does not cut it short. An already-heard song that you paused can still resume. Use Next if you want to leave the current song now; the next selection uses only enabled genres.
  • Switch every local genre off: there is nothing eligible to play next. Radio Mix waits and asks you to select at least one genre; it does not quietly return to an unfiltered mix. Enable a genre or click All genres to restore choices. Press Play if playback is paused.
  • Your choices follow you: closing and reopening the panel or moving to another location keeps your exclusions in the current listening tab or its paired player window. Newly encountered genres start enabled. These are listening-session choices, not saved account preferences.
  • All genres resets the selection: it re-enables every excluded genre in the session, including exclusions made at other locations.

The percentages in Genre influences continue to describe the full local musical mixture. They do not change when you turn a square off. Radio Mix distributes its choices among the enabled genres that have playable recordings.

These switches filter Radio Mix only. You can use them to control the mushroom display while listening to another channel, but they do not remove songs from my liked music or Radio MuGlobe. Your selections apply when you return to mix radio.

Listen to Radio MuGlobe

Choose Radio MuGlobe in the station selector, or open Radio MuGlobe directly. It is a public, curated worldwide channel, separate from your liked music and from the local mix under the center selector.

Radio MuGlobe is the worldwide channel. Use the left arrow to leave it.

When you select this channel, its current selection is shuffled into a listening order. It plays through that order and loops; switching away and back creates a fresh order. Next advances to the next recording.

As a recording starts, the globe travels to a place associated with its genre. This is a musical connection, not necessarily the artist's birthplace or the location where the video was filmed. You can zoom in and out, but dragging the globe to choose a different place is unavailable while Radio MuGlobe is selected—even when paused. Switch back to mix radio to explore locations yourself.

The genre switches in the location information panel do not filter this worldwide channel. You do not need to sign in or save any likes to listen.

Save and revisit liked music

Create a free account or sign in through Your account. While a track is selected, click the heart button beside the station selector to save it with its listening location. Click the heart again to remove that like.

Choose my liked music in the station selector to listen to your saved recordings. As each one plays, the globe returns to the place saved with that like. This gives you a personal way to revisit discoveries and the places connected with them. If your list is empty, return to mix radio or Radio MuGlobe and like some tracks first.

Use the player controls

The track information identifies the Region, Genre, Artist and Track. Beneath it are the listening controls.

Track information and playback controls. The first button changes between Play and Pause.
  • Play / Pause: start or resume the current selection, or pause it.
  • Next recording: move on without waiting for the current song to finish. In Radio Mix, this respects your enabled genres.
  • Speaker and volume slider: mute or unmute the sound, and adjust its volume.
  • Layout control on the video area: switch the player into the central view, or return the globe to the central view. This changes the viewing arrangement, not the channel.

Music is presented through YouTube videos. If the player asks you to press Play, use the Play button. If a recording cannot load, follow the player's message or try Next when it is available.

Read about genres and musical regions

The two kinds of information controls lead to different things:

  • Location information: the (i) beside the center selector opens Genre influences. Click a genre's linked name to read about its history, sound, artists and cultural connections. Its colored square changes the display and Radio Mix selection instead.
  • Region information: an (i) belonging to an outlined musical region opens that region's wiki article. Musical regions can reflect language, migration, trade and community connections, so they can overlap and cross national borders.

The wiki also covers countries, musicians, groups, instruments and other musical subjects. Follow links within articles, use the wiki search box, or browse the article index. References and footnotes identify the sources behind the articles.
