Summary

Garota Safada is the Ceará forró band through which Wesley Safadão developed his public career. It belongs to the modern amplified-band history behind today's Contemporary Forró scene.[1]

History

The group's history and Safadão's emergence are closely connected. His later national prominence shifted attention toward the solo stage name, but the band setting remains important for understanding the performance circuit and professional development from which that career grew.[1]

Music and repertoire

The repertoire sits within Forró eletrônico's mixture of dance music, romantic songs and popular adaptations. A band's evolution toward the billing of a star singer is an organizational change as well as a musical one. Historical group recordings should retain their original ensemble credit.

Members and collaborators

Safadão is the best-known frontman associated with Garota Safada. The group name should not be applied automatically to all later Wesley Safadão recordings, nor should his later solo name erase the musicians and ensemble identity of the earlier performances.[1]
