Summary
Fontaines D.C. is an Irish band whose records move across post-punk, indie rock and alternative rock. Dublin and the experience of Irish identity away from home are recurring reference points.[1]
Contemporary and trending
The official discography lists Dopamine Chamber with a 16 October 2026 release date, following Romance (2024). This later activity places the earlier guitar records within an ongoing recording career rather than treating the first post-punk description as a permanent limit.[2]
History
Dogrel (2019), A Hero's Death (2020) and Skinty Fia (2022) trace the band's early album sequence. Partisan's account of Skinty Fia emphasizes the tension between Irish belonging, displacement and cultural change.[2][1]
Music and repertoire
Grian Chatten's rhythmically forceful vocal delivery is a key organizing element. The band's release notes describe Romance as an expansion of its sound, with 'Starburster' placing a rushing vocal line against forceful production. Comparing that record with Skinty Fia gives a useful route through the band's changing arrangements and the interaction of words and ensemble sound.[3]
Selected recordings in MuGlobe:
- Fontaines D.C. - In The Modern World | Reading Festival 2026 — Alternative rock.

- Fontaines D.C. - I Love You & Starburster (live at Lowlands 2025) — Alternative rock.
Members and collaborators
The five-piece consists of Grian Chatten, Carlos O'Connell, Conor Curley, Conor Deegan and Tom Coll. Their shared writing and ensemble work underpin the records; James Ford produced Romance.[4]
