Summary
Vietnamese rock connects amplified bands, indie and alternative songwriting, pop-rock and selected heavier work. It adds a national band-music route beside V-pop, rap and regional traditions, without claiming that these bands all share one narrow style.
Contemporary and trending
The current listening route brings identified local releases and performances into the station alongside continuing familiar repertoire. Ngọt, Cá Hồi Hoang, Bức Tường, Chillies, 7uppercuts, Ngũ Cung and The Cassette provide contrasting entrances. Newer discovery is a priority, while worthwhile older recordings remain playable. A streaming or festival appearance demonstrates circulation in that setting; it is not converted into a measured national audience share.[1]
History
Established rock groups and newer independent bands have developed through different venue, festival and recording networks. Major-label relationships now coexist with independent release routes. A band’s current release and a live version of an earlier work retain distinct dates and identities.[2]
Musical characteristics
Electric guitar, bass, drums and different vocal textures organize the route. Bức Tường’s larger rock arrangements differ from Ngọt’s concise band songs, Cá Hồi Hoang’s atmospheric writing, Chillies’ melodic pop-rock and 7uppercuts’ energetic approach.
Geography and communities
Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Đà Lạt and other connected city circuits participate in production and performance, with broader national audiences online. Rock stays available in provincial programmes while local traditions vary in emphasis. One city’s music is not treated as the country’s only contemporary sound.
Artists
Ngọt, Cá Hồi Hoang, Bức Tường, Chillies, 7uppercuts, Ngũ Cung and The Cassette provide contrasting entrances. Specific acoustic sessions and collaborations remain credited by recording rather than assigned a uniform production style.
Recording entrances
Ngọt — Ngọt - 03 Hay Là[3]; Ngot — Ngot - Thay Chua (Official Music Video)[4]. These are particular versions, not a claim that every work by the same performer belongs here.
