Summary

Flavour, also billed as Flavour N'abania, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist associated with highlife. His career brings Igbo musical resources into exchange with contemporary popular production.[1]

Life and career

Early drumming in Enugu churches preceded learning keyboard, guitar and production. N'abania reached a regional audience before Uplifted expanded his public. The development from instrumental training to recording artist remained grounded in live musicianship.[1]

Music and style

Highlife supplies a continuing foundation while new sounds and collaborators alter the arrangements. In a 2024 interview he described experimentation as a search for balance, keeping different styles from sounding forced. His live presentation combines band performance, choreography and visual design to express the cultural identity explored in the songs.[2]

Works and performances

Uplifted, Blessed and African Royalty document different stages. 'Nwa Baby', 'Ada Ada', 'Big Baller' and 'Her Excellency' are representative songs. Collaborations with Zoro and Phyno also connect his highlife practice with Igbo-language rap, including the ogene-related 'Gbo Gan Gbom'.[1][2][3]
