Summary

Men I Trust is a Montréal trio associated with dream pop. Soft vocals and a strong bass groove connect its guitar-centered songs with an earlier interest in electronic production.[1]

Contemporary and trending

The band released Equus Asinus and Equus Caballus in 2025. The paired records provide a later point of comparison with earlier singles and the group's established dream-pop sound.[2]

History

Founded in 2014, the project initially involved Jessy Caron and Dragos Chiriac working with different singers. Emma Proulx's guest contributions developed into a permanent role. In their 2018 interview, the musicians described an independent working method and an audience extending well beyond Montréal.[1][2]

Music and repertoire

Chiriac identifies Daft Punk and early-2000s French house, particularly the Ed Banger circle, as early influences. The group's later move toward guitars retained an emphasis on groove. That history connects its unhurried dream-pop presentation with dance-oriented production, without making every song a house recording. The musicians' own description emphasizes smoothness, groove and a visual dimension to the songs.[1]

Members and collaborators

The core trio comprises Emma Proulx on voice and guitar, Jessy Caron on guitar and bass, and Dragos Chiriac on keyboards and production. Their collaborative identity grew out of the earlier production project.[1]
