Region
A musical region is a geographic area, or a set of areas, whose people share a broadly recognizable pattern of music listening. It describes the overall musical mixture and relative emphasis. A genre's individual reach belongs to the separate genre overlay. Regions express broad, meaningful patterns and can contain local variation. They may overlap, cross national borders or have disconnected parts. Familiar geographical names do not by themselves establish musical regions.
