Summary
Okyeame Kwame is a Ghanaian rapper, songwriter and cultural advocate associated with hiplife. His career connects the duo Akyeame with solo recordings and projects devoted to Ghanaian cultural expression.[1]
Life and career
He developed Akyeame with Okyeame Quophi through competitions and school performances. Their 1997 recording breakthrough preceded his solo career in the early 2000s.[2]
Music and style
His account of listening includes Ghanaian performers such as Koo Nimo, Amakye Dede and Kojo Antwi alongside American rap. This places his hiplife practice within several musical educations. Language, arrangement and verbal performance connect hip-hop with Ghanaian cultural resources.[2]
Works and performances
Akyeame's 'Brebre Obaahemaa' is an early reference point. The later Made in Ghana project sought to represent cultural life in different parts of the country. Its recording history includes the title song with KiDi and 'Bolgatanga Girl'. His official site also presents 'Clap', produced by Dan Grahl.[3][4][5][1]
