Publish Ed Brakus’s MuGlobe user guide, adapted from his explainer, and link it from the wiki home page.

New page

'''MuGlobe lets you explore the world's music by moving around a globe.''' Choose a place and it creates a virtual radio station for that location, drawing on local musical genres and musical regions. You can listen continuously, read about what you hear, and save music you like. MuGlobe is free and has no ads.

[https://muglobe.com Open MuGlobe and start listening.]

== Listen to music from a place ==
Drag the globe in any direction. The location selector stays in the center of the display while the world moves beneath it. When you select a location over land, MuGlobe builds a mix of music associated with that place.

You can keep moving to explore, or leave one location selected and listen as you would to a radio station. The selection contains individual recordings, so you can hear a succession of tracks from the area's musical traditions and contemporary scenes.

== Find out what you are hearing ==
Click the '''(i) information button''' attached to the location selector. It shows the musical genres associated with the location and their relative influence in the local mix.

For example, country music has a strong association with Nashville, Tennessee. A location can also draw on several musical traditions at once. The percentages help explain that mixture; they are editorial estimates of musical influence, not survey measurements of how many residents listen to each genre.

Click a genre's name to read its wiki article. The articles explain the music's history, characteristics, artists and cultural connections, including how styles develop over time.

== Explore the colored genre areas ==
Colored areas on the globe show where different genres have musical influence. Reggaeton, for example, connects places across Latin America and the Caribbean rather than belonging to only one country.

In the location information panel, click a genre's colored square to show or hide its map markers. This lets you focus on the genres that interest you while keeping the list of local genres and their article links available.

== Explore musical regions ==
MuGlobe's musical regions describe areas connected by musical and social traditions. They can follow historical trade, migration, language or community relationships, and can overlap rather than fitting neatly inside national borders.

Regions appear as outlines on the globe. Use a region's '''(i) information button''' to open its article and read about the area's music, history and connections to other places.

== Save music you like ==
Create a free account and sign in to save music. Click the '''heart button''' to like a track and its listening location.

Use the '''radio station selector''' to choose your liked music. When a saved track plays, the globe moves to the location where you were listening when you liked it. Your saved music becomes a way to revisit discoveries and the places connected with them.

== Choose what plays ==
The default '''Mix''' station draws from the genres associated with your selected location, with their relative influence shaping the mix. Use the station selector to switch listening modes, including your liked music when you have saved tracks.

The music plays through YouTube videos. MuGlobe has individually catalogued tens of thousands of recordings by musical genre so they can be connected with appropriate places on the globe. Leave a location selected to keep listening, or move to another place to explore a different musical mixture.

== Read more in the wiki ==
The wiki covers countries, musical regions, genres, artists and other subjects of musical interest. Follow links from the globe and player, use the wiki search box, or [[Special:AllPages|browse the article index]].

MuGlobe's geographic music information draws on research into musical traditions, regions and genre influence. References and footnotes in the articles point to the sources behind that work.
