View source for Uyghur song and dance in Kazakhstan

== Summary ==

Uyghur song and dance in Kazakhstan is a community listening view spanning popular song, theater ensembles and selected dance-related or muqam-derived performance. It preserves these related settings without presenting a short song or dance selection as the complete Twelve Muqam.<ref>[https://uyghurtheatre.kz/ru/istoriya Uyghur Theatre: institutional history and musical ensembles].</ref>

== Contemporary and trending ==

Teaching, community performance and concert interpretation keep this repertoire active. Archival and recent performances are retained with their distinct versions; older music is not excluded simply because of age. <ref>[https://eurasianet.org/kazakhstan-uyghurs-striving-to-preserve-culture-amid-digital-age-pressures-part-ii Eurasianet: Uyghur cultural practice in Kazakhstan, part II].</ref>

== History ==

Almaty’s Uyghur theater grew from earlier local dramatic circles and was founded in 1934. Its ensembles connect stage music with wider community performance. Migration and family networks link urban institutions and southeastern towns and villages.<ref>[https://uyghurtheatre.kz/ru/istoriya Uyghur Theatre: institutional history and musical ensembles].</ref>

== Musical characteristics ==

Sung melodies and dance rhythms appear in acoustic ensembles, amplified stage groups and contemporary pop production. Muqam excerpts, lapär and popular songs retain their individual labels. Instrumentalists and singers are distinguished from dancers and from the video publisher.

== Geography and communities ==

Almaty, the Shelek–Chundzha–Zharkent corridor and connected Ili/Zhetysu communities form the principal Kazakhstan frame. These fields express cultural networks, not the ethnicity of every resident or an exclusive claim on anyone’s listening.<ref>[https://eurasianet.org/kazakhstan-uyghurs-striving-to-preserve-culture-amid-digital-age-pressures-part-ii Eurasianet: Uyghur cultural practice in Kazakhstan, part II].</ref>

== Artists ==

The Nawa ensemble and the Yashliq stage-music lineage stand alongside Murat Akhmadiyev, Dilnaz Akhmadiyeva, Dilbar Burkhanova and other credited performers. Local Uyghur repertoire is selected individually; an artist’s Kazakh- or Russian-language pop song does not automatically enter this collection.
