Instrumental dance and brass-band traditions form related parts of regional musical life.<ref>[https://www.mic.lt/en/database/folk/composers-artists/visi/ Music Information Centre Lithuania: VISI].</ref><ref>[https://www.ekgt.lt/etnografiniai-regionai/zemelapis/ Lithuanian Council for the Protection of Ethnic Culture: ethnographic regions map].</ref>

== Musical characteristics ==

Many characteristic songs use two- or three-part textures, measured pacing and a relatively low vocal register. These are tendencies, not rules for every song or performer.

== Geography and communities ==

The strongest frame centers on inland Samogitia. Klaipėda and Lithuania Minor have related but distinct coastal histories and should not simply be relabelled as Samogitian.

== Artists ==

Identified performances by VISI, Virvytė, Šatrija, Insula and regional singers illustrate local and adopted performance settings.
