View source for Music of the Italian Occitan valleys

== Summary ==

The Occitan valleys of western Piedmont sustain language, dance and contemporary revival networks connected across the Alps. This is a specific minority-language musical landscape within a wider Italian listening public.<ref>[https://www.loudalfin.it/index.php/biografia Lou Dalfin: biography].</ref>

== Contemporary and trending ==

Lou Dalfin and Lou Seriol combine inherited dance and language with amplified folk, rock and other contemporary approaches. Their own accounts describe cross-border exchange; national Italian music continues to circulate in the same communities.<ref>[https://www.louseriol.it/biografia/ Lou Seriol: biography].</ref>

== History ==

Community repertoires and revival activity have made the valleys a bridge across administrative borders. Modern bands and dance occasions extend that history rather than making minority language synonymous with an isolated rural past.
