== Summary ==

Salento joins community pizzica, multilingual song, amplified revival and contemporary popular listening. Grecìa Salentina contributes a specific Griko linguistic history within this wider southern Apulian landscape.<ref>[https://www.lanottedellataranta.it/tarantismo/la-musica/ Fondazione La Notte della Taranta: La musica].</ref>

== Contemporary and trending ==

Pizzica participation, touring ensembles and large collaborative events coexist with Italian pop, rap and reggae-facing music. Young and rural listeners are not confined to tradition, and the festival version is not the only form of local practice.<ref>[https://www.fimi.it/en/news/italian-annual-official-music-charts-2025-italian-leadership/ FIMI / NIQ: Italian annual official music charts 2025].</ref>

== History ==

Earlier tarantism accounts and community dancing inform the regional history; revival, teaching and touring explain later developments. Griko song is an important local practice beyond the subset represented by pizzica.
