== Summary ==

Galilee's Arab music communities form a network of towns, villages and cultural institutions in northern Israel. Arabic popular song, tarab, Palestinian folk repertory and dabke coexist with rap and other contemporary sounds. Nazareth, the western Galilee and the Sakhnin–Arraba area have related listening worlds without sharing an identical musical mixture. This region follows those connections through several compact community settings.

== Contemporary and trending ==

Concert programs give one view of the network. Siraj's 2025–26 performance links connect its Rameh base with Haifa, Nazareth, Jaffa and Ma'alot-Tarshiha. Such circulation brings audiences and musicians into contact across town boundaries.<ref name="galilee-siraj">[https://linktr.ee/Sirajconcerts Siraj: 2025–26 concert links]</ref> Alongside these concerts, recorded Arabic pop and Palestinian hip-hop offer other routes into present listening. Different generations and occasions may foreground different parts of that repertoire.

== History ==

Nazareth's Arab Orchestra has performed a concert repertory including Umm Kulthum and Fairuz, with appearances before Arab and Jewish audiences. This preserves a living art-song strand rather than making older Arabic music merely a historical reference.<ref name="galilee-orchestra">[https://bama.acum.org.il/מופע-מחווה-לגדולות-הזמר-הערבי/ ACUM: Arab Orchestra of Nazareth program]</ref> Folk-song renewal and local music education provide other continuities between inherited repertoire and contemporary performance.

== Genres ==

Tarab directs attention to expressive concert singing and the broader Arabic art-song world. Dabke points toward social dancing and celebration repertoire. Arabic pop and Palestinian hip-hop connect the region to recordings and audiences far beyond Galilee. Hebrew popular and Mizrahi music can overlap with local listening; their presence need not erase Arabic-language or Palestinian cultural settings. Nazareth's liturgical and classical programming adds a further strand.<ref name="galilee-liturgical">[https://liturgicalnazareth.co.il/en/aboutus/ Nazareth Liturgical Festival: mission and programming context]</ref>

== Boundary definition and research ==

The authored region selects compact settings around Nazareth, Sakhnin, Arraba, Deir Hanna, Shefa-'Amr, Tamra, Kafr Yasif–Abu Snan and Tarshiha. Detached pieces express a cultural network amid neighboring towns with different mixtures. They are approximate listening areas, not municipal or ethnic boundaries. Nearby communities and rural audiences participate beyond the drawn edges, while Haifa's urban scenes also receive a separate mixed-city view.
