View source for Kashubian music

== Summary ==

Kashubian music joins regional song, choral and folk practice with contemporary music made through Kashubian language and identity. It is a broad community listening view with several sounds, not a claim that every Kashubian musician plays folk.<ref name="poland2026-kashubia">[https://weronikakorthals.com/o-mnie/ Weronika Korthals: Kashubian recordings and musical practice], consulted 25 October 2026.</ref>

== Contemporary and trending ==

Weronika Korthals records new compositions and Kashubian poetry as well as seasonal repertoire. Damroka’s documented Kashubian folk-rock shows another contemporary route. Regional identity therefore remains audible beyond staged folklore.<ref name="poland2026-kashubia">[https://weronikakorthals.com/o-mnie/ Weronika Korthals: Kashubian recordings and musical practice], consulted 25 October 2026.</ref><ref name="poland2026-kashubiaradio">[https://radiokaszebe.pl/artists/damroka-563 Radio Kaszebe: Damroka and Kashubian folk-rock], consulted 25 October 2026.</ref>

== History ==

Song and language work connect family memory, regional institutions, choirs and public performance. Different songwriters and ensembles sustain these relationships through changing arrangements and media.

== Musical characteristics ==

Regional-language lyrics, melody and musical setting are consequential, while instrumentation ranges from folk and choral textures to guitar bands and pop arrangements. Art-song singers, composers and accompanying musicians retain their separate credits.

== Geography and communities ==

The landscape follows Kashubian communities from the lake country toward the northern coast and Tricity connections. It overlaps metropolitan and national listening instead of treating the whole Pomeranian coast as a uniformly Kashubian audience.

== Artists ==

Weronika Korthals, Damroka, Chëcz and Tomasz Fopke provide contemporary song and popular music, alongside named folk and art-song performers. The collection includes both new work and retained regional repertoire.
