View source for French Guianese reggae, dancehall and shatta

== Summary ==

French Guianese reggae, dancehall and shatta is a regional listening collection spanning roots-oriented singing, dancehall and contemporary shatta collaborations. French Guiana’s local scene connects coastal cities, Maroon networks and international Caribbean music.

== Contemporary and trending ==

Jahyanai, Bamby and Ken Vybz illustrate contemporary dancehall and shatta routes, while Little Guerrier and Prince Koloni extend reggae and river-connected popular singing.<ref>[https://www.francetvpro.fr/contenu-de-presse/74618136 France Télévisions: Bamby at Sakifo].</ref>

== History ==

Recorded and live exchanges with the Caribbean, Suriname and metropolitan France helped develop distinct local careers and production networks. These connections do not make French Guiana’s repertoire a copy of metropolitan French pop.<ref>[https://www.parc-amazonien-guyane.fr/fr/des-decouvertes/partir-la-decouverte-des-patrimoines Parc amazonien: discovering living heritage].</ref>

== Musical characteristics ==

Bass-centered electronic rhythms, singjay delivery, melodic refrains and reggae arrangements occur in different proportions. The collection does not claim that roots reggae, dancehall and shatta are identical styles.

== Geography and communities ==

Cayenne–Matoury, Kourou and Saint-Laurent are major circulation points. Maroni river communities and Oyapock contemporary listening connect with this music while retaining separate community practices.<ref>[https://www.francetvpro.fr/contenu-de-presse/74629279 France Télévisions: Jahyanai].</ref>

== Artists ==

Jahyanai, Bamby, Little Guerrier, Prince Koloni and Ken Vybz are distinct entry points. Artist collaborations retain their credits and particular recording identity.
