== Summary ==

Finnish pop is a changing field of popular songwriting, performance and studio production associated with Finland. Finnish-language songs are central to its domestic circulation, while Swedish, English and other languages connect different local and international careers. This listening collection brings melodic pop, electronic dance-oriented songs and intimate alternative pop into one broad route; it does not mean that every Finnish musician makes the same sound.<ref>[https://www.teosto.fi/en/music-listening-in-finland-2025-music-is-important-for-almost-every-finn-finnish-language-pop-maintains-its-position-as-the-most-popular-music-genre/ Teosto/IFPI Music Listening in Finland 2025].</ref>

== Contemporary and trending ==

The mid-2020s scene includes the melodic directness associated with Mirella, the personal songwriting of pehmoaino and BEHM, and more theatrical dance production. Erika Vikman’s 2025 “Ich komme” combines Finnish disco with electronic production; her earlier “Cicciolina” connects contemporary pop performance to the language of iskelmä. These are intersecting directions, not a single new subgenre. Music Finland’s newer roster also describes OLGA’s electronic pop and louna0nline’s encounters with rap and hyperpop.<ref>[https://www.teosto.fi/teostory/isoja-melodioita-kreiseja-tuotantoja-ja-kantria-popin-trendit-2025/ Teosto: Isoja melodioita, kreisejä tuotantoja ja kantria – popin trendit 2025].</ref><ref>[https://musicfinland.com/en/news/erika-vikmans-ich-komme-will-take-over-eurovision-2025 Music Finland: Who is Erika Vikman, whose Ich Komme will take over Eurovision 2025?].</ref>

== History ==

Pop in Finland has developed in continuing exchange with domestic song traditions and international production. The persistent relationship with iskelmä helps explain why new electronic arrangements and older melodic expectations can coexist. Recent television events, digital releases and touring add new entry points rather than erasing established artists or earlier recordings.<ref>[https://www.fmq.fi/articles/finnish-undertone-editorial-from-fmq-2-2009 FMQ: Finnish undertone – editorial from FMQ 2/2009].</ref>

== Musical characteristics ==

A song may foreground a sung melody and clear chorus, a sparse accompaniment and close vocal, or a strong electronic pulse. Synthesizers and programmed drums often sit beside acoustic instruments. Rap and dance crossovers belong when the particular arrangement supports them; nationality alone does not establish a song’s genre.<ref>[https://musicfinland.com/playlists/new-pop-from-finland Music Finland: New Pop from Finland].</ref>

== Geography and communities ==

National media connect these songs to smaller towns and countryside as well as metropolitan audiences. Yle’s 2025 Turku summer events paired the younger YleXPop roster with the separate Radio Suomi concert and transmitted both across Finland. The geographical route therefore represents circulation as well as production, while Swedish-speaking and Sámi music retain their own cultural contexts.<ref>[https://yle.fi/a/74-20154348 Yle: YleXPopin ja Radio Suomen Kesäkonsertin esiintyjät julki].</ref>

== Artists ==

Mirella, BEHM, pehmoaino, Nelli Matula, Erika Vikman and Isac Elliot provide different entry points. Named recordings and arrangements matter more than treating this roster as an exclusive definition; the linked hip-hop, rock, iskelmä and contemporary folk routes explain important overlaps.
