== Summary ==

Cumbia santafesina is a regional Argentine music-and-dance identity centred on Santa Fe and connected provincial and national circuits. Accordion-led and electric-guitar-led approaches are both consequential; the genre’s identity cannot be settled by choosing only one instrument as authentic. == History ==

Los Palmeras formed in Santa Fe in 1972, with Marcos Camino joining on piano accordion that year. Los del Bohío’s guitar work represents another major route. Regional identity grew through musicians, audiences, recordings and movement beyond the provincial capital. <ref name="southamerica2026-ar-santafe-orchestra">[https://www.santafe.gov.ar/noticias/noticia/259872/ Santa Fe province, Los Palmeras orchestral project]. == Musical characteristics ==

Melodic introductions and solos can foreground accordion or electric guitar, while some arrangements combine these with brass and other resources. The UNL study questions instrument-only origin stories and stresses that one song cannot define every arrangement in the genre.

The selected Los Palmeras symphonic collaboration uses arrangements associated with Rubén Carughi; it expands the ensemble rather than replacing ordinary dance-band practice. <ref name="southamerica2026-ar-santafe-city">[https://turismo.santafeciudad.gov.ar/cumbia-santafesina/ Santa Fe city, Cumbia santafesina cultural experience].
