View source for Catalan-language pop and urban music

== Summary ==

Catalan-language pop and urban music is a contemporary song scene spanning pop, rap, electronic production and dance styles. It includes Valencian and Balearic contributions without reducing these places to Barcelona or to heritage dancing.<ref>[https://www.3cat.cat/3catinfo/una-nova-onada-de-pop-urba-en-catala-a-la-banda-del-pati/noticia-amp/3286826/ 3Cat: La banda del pati, a new wave of Catalan urban pop]</ref>

== Contemporary and trending ==

The Tyets, Oques Grasses, Mushkaa, Julieta and La Fúmiga offer contrasting contemporary sounds. Language creates connections across styles; a particular recording may combine more than one musical vocabulary.<ref>[https://www.3cat.cat/3cat/playlist-canet-rock-2025/audio/1246039/ iCat: Canet Rock 2025 programme and repertoire]</ref>

== History ==

Present releases build on earlier popular-song and band circuits while bringing new production and voices. This scene identity does not imply that all Catalan-speaking residents choose the same repertoire.

== Musical characteristics ==

Sung hooks, rap verses, programmed dance rhythms, bands and brass may appear in different combinations. The Tyets’ Coti x Coti explicitly crosses urban pop with sardana; that crossover does not turn every song into a traditional cobla performance.

== Geography and communities ==

The fields distinguish Catalonia, the Valencian circuit and the Balearics, with overlapping national and international listening. Small towns and local celebrations also participate in current releases; urban style names do not confine their audiences to cities.

== Artists ==

The selected recordings preserve each named group and featured voice. Valencian La Fúmiga and the Catalan-language artists are presented in a shared scene route, with distinct local contexts rather than a claim of identical regional traditions.
