== Summary ==

Bhojpuri popular music comprises film songs and independently released popular recordings in Bhojpuri. Contemporary dance songs, romantic duets and regional storytelling sit alongside a much wider folk and devotional heritage.

== Contemporary and trending ==

Pawan Singh, Khesari Lal Yadav, Shilpi Raj, Priyanka Singh, Gunjan Singh and Ankush Raja are among the voices heard in film and independently released songs. Many artists also record devotional music, linking several settings without making them one genre. The listening collection includes individually identified recent releases and worthwhile earlier songs. Film, independent, live and devotional contexts remain distinguished in the recording notes; an upload date does not establish a song’s age.

== History ==

Bhojpuri song circulates through performance, cinema, recordings and migration. Current labels and video channels sustain a prolific commercial scene, while older folk and seasonal forms continue in their own settings. A popular collection should complement rather than absorb Birha, Kajri and Chhath repertoire.<ref>[https://sr.saregama.com/resources/pdf/carvaanmobile/Saregama_CarvaanMobile_Songlist_bhojpuri.pdf Saregama official Bhojpuri song and artist list].</ref><ref>[https://www.drc.gbpssi.in/project3/cultural-biography/index.html G. == Musical characteristics ==

Prominent vocals, strong refrains and dance-oriented rhythms are common, with acoustic and electronic instruments mixed in varied ways. Duet credits require care because actors shown in the video are not necessarily the singers.

== Geography and communities ==

The Bhojpuri-speaking landscape spans eastern Uttar Pradesh and western Bihar, connecting Varanasi, Ghazipur, Ballia, Ara and neighboring communities. Migrant listening extends farther, but Bhojpuri should not be treated as the language of all Uttar Pradesh or all Bihar.<ref>[https://www.saregama.com/artist/khesari-lal-yadav_58149/hits/songs Saregama Khesari Lal Yadav catalogue].</ref>
